Brian Setzer Riding a Wave of Christmas Popularity

Even as Brian Setzer tours the country in a reunited presentation of the Stray Cats, Christmas is on his mind.

The Brian Setzer Orchestra is a grand holiday tradition and due to their runaway Christmas success Surfdog Records will rerelease their chart-topping Christmas classics ‘Dig That Crazy Christmas’ (”undeniably cool” – Chicago Sun Times) and ‘Boogie Woogie Christmas’ (”best all-around holiday album” – New York Post) as well as the ‘Christmas Extravaganza’ DVD this fall.

Brian Setzer, “the new king of jingle bell rock” (Billboard), will launch his big band’s sixth annual Christmas Extravaganza tour in Syracuse, NY on November 17. Following last year’s completely sold out Christmas tour, the group’s one-of-a-kind exhilarating show has grown to 31 dates.

A three-time Grammy Award winner, Brian Setzer has enjoyed a career spanning over 25 years. First reaching world attention as the frontman for the legendary Stray Cats, remarkably it was Setzer’s solo work that brought him even more success. Known for single-handedly reviving two forgotten genres of music, rockabilly and swing, Setzer’s solo career is highlighted by a string of acclaimed and best-selling albums including 1998’s triple platinum ‘The Dirty Boogie.’ In addition, he has consistently packed concert halls with both his 18-piece big band and trio.
